Business websites

A website that says what you do — clearly.

Most small business websites do one job: explain the business clearly and make it easy to get in touch. That does not need a heavy content platform behind it. This site is an example of the approach.

This site, as built

Build
Static HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript
Fonts
Self-hosted — no third-party requests
Hosting
Cloudflare, with security headers

The problem

What usually goes wrong with a small business site

  1. Slow for no good reason

A brochure site carrying the weight of a platform built for something far larger — plugins, trackers and scripts nobody chose deliberately.

  2. Nobody can edit it

Changing a phone number means finding whoever built it, and the login details left with them.

  3. Unclear what the business does

Plenty of words, but a visitor still cannot tell within ten seconds whether you do the thing they need.

  4. Awkward on a phone

Most visitors arrive on a phone, and the site was designed on a desktop and checked there.

What Forge provides

Static sites, built to stay fast

Brochure sites are built as plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, served as static files.

There is no database to maintain, no plugin to update, and very little that can break on its own. It is also the cheapest thing in the world to host.

  • New builds

A clean, professional site that presents the business, its services and how to make contact — written to be understood quickly.

    • Mobile-first, responsive layouts
    • Accessible markup, keyboard navigation and skip links
    • Self-hosted fonts — no third-party font requests
    • A working contact route, set up and tested
  • Refreshes and migrations

Existing sites brought up to date, or moved off a host that has become expensive, unreliable or simply forgotten about.

    • Redesign or tidy-up of an existing site
    • Migration to modern static hosting
    • Redirects kept in order so existing links still work
    • Minimal downtime through the switch
  • Technical foundations

The parts that decide whether a site can be found and trusted, done as part of the build rather than sold back later.

    • Page titles, descriptions and canonical URLs
    • Sitemap, robots.txt and structured data
    • Open Graph and Twitter/X cards for sharing
    • Security headers and HTTPS
    • Genuine 404 handling and consistent URLs

In practice

This site is the example

forgetechnology.co.uk is built exactly this way: static HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript, a self-hosted variable font, no tracking or advertising cookies, and no third-party requests to load a page. It is served from Cloudflare with security headers, a real 404 page and consistent URLs.

If a business needs more than a brochure site — a portal, a login, documents generated from captured data — that is a different piece of work, and it is covered under custom business applications.

Next step

New site, or fix the one you have?

Either is fine. Send the address of your current site, or a description of the business if there is not one yet.
